MLB
The Detroit Tigers lost 9-2 to the Cleveland Indians yesterday. Cleveland ace Corey Kluber held Detroit to just two hits over eight innings – one, a solo home run by Leonys Martin. Spot starter Artie Lewicki hung tough through five innings, giving up three runs. Cleveland added three off Drew VerHagen in the sixth, and three more off Zac Reininger in the eighth.

The Tigers have today off, and begin a home series against the Minnesota Twins tomorrow night. Blaine Hardy will pitch against Jake Odorizzi. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Reininger was sent down to Toledo after the game. The Tigers will call up a replacement today. Jordan Zimmermann will make his third rehab start today, for the West Michigan Whitecaps. If things go well, he could return to the rotation later this week.

The Milwaukee Brewers’ late comeback fell short, as they fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 yesterday. The Brewers trailed 4-2 after seven innings. Ryan Braun singled home a run in the top of the eighth. In the top of the ninth, they moved a runner to third base with two outs, but Christian Yelich grounded out to second base to end the game. Starter Brandon Woodruff gave up a run over four innings, but was lifted for a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth. Daniel Jennings relieved him, gave up three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and took the loss.

The Brewers entertain the Chicago Cubs tonight. Junior Guerra will start against Jose Quintana.
