Tech Women’s Hoops Falls at Ashland – Friday Sports Wrap

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech women’s team fell to second-ranked Ashland 77-49 last night. Katelyn Meister led the Huskies with 15 points.

The Finlandia women’s basketball team opens play at the Wisconsin-Superior Holiday Shootout tonight against Wisconsin-River Falls. The Lions will play Saint Catherine tomorrow afternoon.

GLHL

The Calumet Wolverines visit the Portage Lake Pioneers tonight. Face-off is at 7:30 at Dee Stadium.

NHL

The Red Wings fell behind early, and lost 6-3 to the Sabers last night. Dominik Kubalik scored twice for Detroit, and Jordan Oesterle found the net once. All of Detroit’s goals came in the third period. Magnus Hellberg took the loss in net, stopping 39 shots.

The Wings host the Senators tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons visit the Bulls tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit guard Killian Hayes has been suspended three games by the NBA for his role in the fracas during Wednesday’s win over the Magic. Hayes punched Orlando center Moritz Wagner, after Wagner shoved Hayes into the Pistons’ bench. Wagner was suspended for two games. Detroit’s Hamidou Diallo will also sit out a game. The altercation inspired all eight of the players on the Orlando bench to rush toward the Detroit bench. Each of those players has been suspended for one game.

NFL

In last night’s NFL contest, the Cowboys outscored the Titans 27-13.

College Football

The college football playoff semifinals will be played tomorrow…
• Second-seed University of Michigan faces third-seed TCU at 4:00 in the Fiesta Bowl.
• Top-seed Georgia plays fourth-seed Ohio State in the Peach Bowl at 8:00.
