Tech Hockey Opens Centennial Season with Tie – Sunday Sports Wrap

MTU

The Michigan Tech hockey team opened its 100th season with a scoreless tie against Lake Superior State Saturday evening. Mark Sinclair stopped 21 shots in his Tech debut between the pipes. Mareks Mitens turned away 28 shots for the Lakers. LSSU earned the bonus WCHA standings point by winning the postgame shootout.

Those teams play again this afternoon at 3:07 in Sault Ste. Marie.

NFL

The Lions visit the Panthers for a 1:00 game today. Detroit will play without defensive linemen Austin Bryant and Da’Shawn Hand. Bryant is suffering from a thigh injury. Hand has a groin injury. The Lions had previously announced that receiver Kenny Golladay, who continues to battle a hip injury, and running back D’Andre Swift, who is in concussion protocol, would miss the game. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is listed as questionable because of the thumb injury on his throwing hand, but is expected to start.

To help fill the gaps, Detroit promoted defensive tackle Frank Herron and wide receiver Mohamed Sanu from the practice squad.

Carolina quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is also questionable, because of a knee injury. Panthers’ running back Christian McCaffrey will miss the game.

The Packers play at Indianapolis in a 4:25 game today. Green Bay may be without punter J.K. Scott. He did not travel with the team because of a personal matter. Scott still may play – he’s listed as questionable – but Green Bay signed punter Drew Kaser as insurance.

The Raiders host the Chiefs in tonight’s contest. Tomorrow, the Buccaneers host the Rams. Hear both games on 99.3 The Lift.

The next edition of the Deer Hunters Roundup will air Wednesday at 7:00. Submit your success at KBear102.com, and you could win a prize. Winners are chosen by random drawing, and all entries have an equal chance of winning.
