High School

In high school hockey Saturday…
• Houghton blanked Jeffers 7-0. Connor Arko and Jace DeForge each had two goals and an assist. Connor Raffaelli and Mike Maillette each had one goal and two assists. Grant Schaible also scored for the Gremlins. Bryant Lee made 16 saves to earn the shutout in net.
• Calumet shut down De Pere 2-0. Brendan Boberg and Cam Anderson scored for the Copper Kings. Hunter Tuoriniemi made 35 saves.
• Hancock fell to Bay Port 5-2.

Both Houghton swim teams earned victories in a three-way meet at Rudyard Saturday.
• The girls team outpointed Sault Ste. Marie 99-84, with the host Bulldogs in third place with 47. Kayleigh Carlson won the 200 freestyle, and Meg Ruohonen won the diving. The Gremlins claimed two of the three relays.
• The boys team outscored Sault Ste. Marie 103-72, with the host Bulldogs in third place with 49 points. The Gremlins got individual victories from Collin Raasio in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, Beau Haataja in the 100 backstroke, Anderson Limkemann in the 100 breaststroke, and Baha Saleem in diving. The boys also won two of the three relays.

College Hockey

The Michigan Tech hockey team salvaged a split in their weekend series at Lake Superior State University with a 1-0 victory Saturday night. Ryland Mosley scored the only goal of the game midway through the third period. Blake Pietila made 26 saves, and earned his 21st career shutout.

The Northern Michigan hockey squad fell 4-0 at Minnesota State Saturday night.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team outscored Northern Michigan University 71-58 Saturday afternoon. The Huskies built a 16-point halftime lead. The Wildcats trimmed that to seven in the third quarter, but Tech held on for the win. Katelyn Meister paced the Huskies with 16 points. Makaylee Kuhn led the Wildcats with 12.

The Tech men’s team fell to NMU 98-66. The Wildcats outscored the Huskies by 21 points in the second half to seal the win. Marcus Tomashek led the Huskies with 18 points. Max Weisbrod netted 31 for the Wildcats.

GLHL

The Portage Lake Pioneers downed the Waterford Sharks 9-4 Saturday evening.

The Calumet Wolverines outscored the Fond du Lac Bears 5-2.

NHL

Dylan Larkin scored twice, as the Red Wings outskated the Golden Knights 5-2 Saturday evening. Jake Walman, Joe Veleno and Andrew Copp also found the net. Alex Lyon made 28 saves.

The Wings are off until Wednesday, when they entertain the Senators. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons lost to the Wizards 118-104 Saturday afternoon. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 30 for Detroit. Cade Cunningham returned after missing time with a knee injury, and scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

The Pistons host the Thunder this afternoon.

NFL

The NFL conference championship games will be played today.
• The Chiefs visit the Ravens in a 3:00 contest.
• The 49ers host the Lions in a 6:30 match.
