Eric Zeboor’s extra point kick in overtime provided the winning margin, as the Tech football team edged Hillsdale College 31-30 yesterday afternoon. The Huskies trailed by eight late in the fourth quarter, but forced overtime with a six-yard James Henderson touchdown run. Quarterback Will Ark ran in the two-point conversion. Tech scored a touchdown on the first overtime possession, and Zeboor’s kick was good. Hillsdale then scored on its possession, but Joe Phillipp’s kick bent to the left, and missed. Ark completed 21 of 30 passes for 214 yards, with one interception. He ran for two touchdowns. Henderson rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown.

MLB
Bud Norris’ wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth allowed Victor Reyes to race home with the winning run, as the Detroit Tigers edged the Saint Louis Cardinals 4-3 last evening. The Tigers carried a 3-0 lead into the eighth inning, thanks to seven one-hit innings by Matthew Boyd. Boyd left after giving up a solo home run and a walk in the eighth. Shane Greene allowed a two-run homer as the Cardinals tied the contest in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Detroit took advantage of an error, a walk, and intentional walk to load the bases, before a low Norris curve ball skipped past the catcher to end the game.

The Tigers host the Cardinals again this afternoon. Michael Fulmer will start against John Gant. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers held off the San Francisco Giants 4-3 yesterday. The Crew did all its scoring in the first five innings, with help from home runs from Travis Shaw and Christian Yelich. Gio Gonzalez pitched five scoreless frames, but left after allowing a run in the sixth. The Giants narrowed the gap with a two-run homer off Joakim Soria in the eighth, but Jeremy Jeffress closed the door with a four-out save.

The Brewers will entertain the Giants again today. Zach Davies will pitch against Madison Bumgarner. Milwaukee trails the Cubs by two-and-a-half games in the National League Central Division race, and has a two-and-a-half game lead over Saint Louis for the top wild card position.
