High School
In high school volleyball tonight…
• L’Anse welcomes Wakefield-Marenisco.
MLB
The baseball playoffs begin tonight. The opening Wild Card round will feature best-of-three series, all hosted by the top-seeded team. On the schedule this evening…
• The Twins host the Astros.
• The Athletics welcome the White Sox.
• The Rays entertain the Blue Jays.
• The Indians host the Yankees.
The Brewers begin the playoffs tomorrow night against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Milwaukee’s pitching rotation is up in the air. Corbin Burnes was the projected starter for game one, but is on the disabled list with an oblique strain. Brett Anderson is also questionable, because of the blister that forced him out of Sunday’s game early.
Meanwhile, the Tigers will turn their attention to the next MLB amateur draft. They will pick third, behind the Pirates and the Rangers.
NHL
The Stanley Cup will spend the next year in Tampa Bay. The Lightning won the trophy by blanking the Stars 2-0 last night, in game six of this year’s COVID-19-delayed series. Victor Hedman won the Conn Smythe Trophy, as the Most Valuable Player in the playoffs.
The Red Wings have signed center Dominic Turgeon to a one-year contract extension. Turgeon played in all 63 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins last season.
NBA
The NBA championship series between the Heat and the Lakers begins tomorrow night.
NFL
The Chiefs dumped the Ravens 34-20 in last night’s NFL game. Patrick Mahomes threw for four touchdowns, and ran for another.
If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least 10 games correctly to be eligible to be this week’s winner.
