– Calumet plays at Hancock.
– Chassell visits L’Anse.
– Baraga welcomes Watersmeet.
– Ontonagon travels to Bessemer.
– Ewen-Trout Creek journeys to Hurley.

In cross country, Houghton runs at a meet at Kingsford this afternoon.

MLB
The Cleveland Indians won their 19th game in a row last night, jumping on the Tigers early, and cruising to an 11-0 victory. First-time starter Myles Jaye gave up five runs in the second inning, and two more before leaving in the fourth.

The Tigers have lost nine of 11 games in September, and continue that series at Cleveland tonight. Matthew Boyd will start against Corey Kluber. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Tigers brought outfielder Tyler Collins back from the Toledo roster before yesterday’s game. Reliever Arcenio Leon was released to make room. Shortstop José Iglesias is expected to rejoin the team tomorrow. He’s been on paternity leave – an adventure that was complicated when he and his family had to leave their Miami home because of Hurricane Irma. Detroit pitcher Michael Fulmer will undergo surgery to repair the ulnar nerve in his right elbow. Recovery typically takes three to four months, and he should be ready for spring training.

The Milwaukee Brewers collected just three hits, and lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-0 last night. Brandon Woodruff pitched into the sixth inning, and was charged with six runs.

The Brewers host the Pirates again tonight. Brent Suter will start against Gerrit Cole .

The Cubs and Cardinals were both idle yesterday, so the loss drops Milwaukee into third place in the National League Central Division, two-and-a-half games behind Chicago, and a half-game behind Saint Louis.

NFL
In last night’s NFL games, the Vikings defeated the Saints 29-19, and the Broncos got past the Chargers 24-21. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have picked at least 10 games correctly to be eligible to be our weekly winner.

Our high school football coverage continues Friday night, when Houghton plays at Calumet. The pregame show will start around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

Our coverage of Finlandia University athletics continues tomorrow, as the Lions volleyball team hosts Northland College. The pregame show will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift and 993TheLift.com.
