Twilight League Baseball

Houghton Building Supply-Stanton won the annual Leo Durocher Memorial Tournament played at the Stanton Field over the weekend.

On the final day yesterday…
• REL-Mohawk Technology defeated Channing 8-3.
• Stanton downed Craig Heinonen Coldwell Banker 10-2.
• In the title game, Stanton dispatched REL 9-2.

• At the Bone Yard in Lake Linden, REL faces Crush at 5:30. Northern Michigan Land Brokers meets Superior National Bank at 7:15.
• At the Houghton Field, JB’s plays Tervo Agency at 7:00.

NHL

The Avalanche won the Stanley Cup last night, edging the Lightning 2-1 in the sixth game of the series. Cale Makar won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the post-season’s most valuable player. Makar becomes the first player to win both the Smythe Tophy and the Hobey Baker Award.

MLB

The Tigers lost 11-7 to the Diamondbacks yesterday. Starter Beau Brieske didn’t make it through the fourth inning, giving up five runs. The Tigers briefly took the lead with a three-run Eric Haase homer in the top of the fifth, but Arizona scored five times off Will Vets in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.

The Tigers have today off, and play at San Francisco tomorrow night. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Carlos Rodon. Coverage will begin at 9:25 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers spotted the Blue Jays a three-run lead in the top of the first inning yesterday, then took control and logged a 10-3 victory. Rowdy Tellez hit two home runs.

The Brewers are also off today, and visit the Rays tomorrow night.

Milwaukee has put Hunter Renfroe back on the injured list with a left calf strain. Pablo Reyes has been called up from Nashville to fill in.
