SNB-Stanton Takes Game 1 Of Twilight Baseball League Championship Series

The Detroit Tigers were pounded by the Texas Rangers last night 10-4. Justin Verlander gave up three homeruns and five runs total in six innings pitched. The Tigers battled back in the seventh inning to make the score 5-3 at the time, but the Tigers’ bullpen imploded to allow a run in the seventh inning and four more in the eighth. Victor Martinez hit a solo homerun in the ninth.

The Tigers conclude that series at Texas against the Rangers tonight. Anibal Sanchez will start against Cole Hamels. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers downed the Pittsburgh Pirates last night 3-1. Zach Davies allowed just one run over 6 2/3 innings for the win. Corey Knebel earned his 29th save by pitching the ninth. Keon Broxton homered in the eighth for the Brewers.

The Brewers wrap up that quick home set against the Pirates this afternoon. Jimmy Nelson will pitch against Gerrit Cole.

Twilight League
In the opening game of the Twilight Baseball League championship series last night, Superior National Bank-Stanton defeated Dean Kangas State Farm 8-2., to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Pitcher Eli Luoma turned in an impressive start for Stanton, giving up just one earned run. Tyler LaDuron knocked in four runs, including a solo homerun in the sixth. Dean Kangas scored once in the top of the first but did not mount another threat until the seventh, when they were able to add another run.

The series continues tonight. Due to the forecasted weather, the game originally scheduled for Thursday was moved up one day. Our pregame coverage will begin around 6:00 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. If needed, game three will be played tomorrow or Sunday.
