Skubal Stymies Twins – Sunday Sports Wrap

The Tigers spotted the Twins an early 2-0 lead, then roared back to claim a 7-2 victory Saturday. Royce Lewis’ two-run homer off Tarik Skubal started and completed Minnesota’s scoring. Skubal went on to pitch through the seventh, striking out eight. Javier Báez hit his third home run in the last three games, and Colt Keith had a homer and a triple.

The Tigers host the Twins again this afternoon. Alex Faedo will pitch against Joe Ryan. Coverage will begin at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers lost to the Marlins 7-3 Saturday. Miami put the game away with five runs off Jared Koenig and Elvis Peguero in the seventh inning. Rhys Hoskins homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers host the Marlins again today. Tobias Myers will start against Kyle Tyler.

Milwaukee has placed reliever Bryan Hudson placed on the injured list with a left oblique strain. Tyler Jay has been brought up from Nashville to fill in. The Brewers also bought some bullpen help by trading two minor leaguer to the Rockies for right-hander Nick Mears. Mears has a record of 1-4, with a 5.56 ERA, but has pitched much better in his most recent outings.
