Skubal Falters in Tigers’ Loss – Monday Sports Wrap

Tarik Skubal’s struggles continued, as the Tigers lost to the Royals 7-4 yesterday. Skubal left in the fifth inning, and was charged with five runs. Spencer Torkelson and Kody Clemens homered for Detroit.

The Tigers host the Guardians in a day-night doubleheader today. Garrett Hill has been brought up from Toledo, and will start for Detroit in his major league debut in the first game. Zach Plesac will counter for Cleveland. Coverage will start at 12:50 on 99.3 The Lift. The second game is a make-up from May 27th. Alex Faedo will start for Detroit. Coverage will begin at 6:20 on 99.3 The Lift. 

The Brewers gave up nine hits, but still shut down the Pirates 2-0 yesterday. Brandon Woodruff struck out eight over six innings. Omar Narváez’ two-run homer provided all the scoring.

The Brewers host the Cubs this afternoon. Eric Lauer will pitch against Justin Steele.

Pedro Severino is back with the Brewers, after serving an 80-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Outfielder Tyrone Taylor has been placed on the 10-day concussion protocol list.
