Baseball – Tigers Fall to Cards
Lance Lynn outdueled Alfredo Simon, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Saint Louis Cardinals 2-1 last night. Lynn pitched into the eighth inning, giving up just six hits. The only run he allowed came in the first inning, on an RBI double by Miguel Cabrera. He helped his own cause by singling home the tying run in the third. Kolten Wong’s sixth inning homer was the game-winner. Simon took the loss for Detroit.

The Tigers remain a game behind the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central Division, and open a home set against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight. Kyle Lobstein will start against Mike Fiers. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Peralta
Peralta

The Brewers are coming off a 5-1 loss to the New York Mets yesterday. Wily Peralta gave up all five New York runs over five innings, and took the loss.

Milwaukee centerfielder Carlos Gomez was hit in the head by a pitch during last night’s game. Initial tests showed that he did not suffer a concussion, and he may be available for tonight’s game in Detroit.

Detroit reliever Bruce Rondon is scheduled to throw to hitters today. It’s the next step in his rehab from right biceps tendinitis. Starter Justin Verlander is set to throw another bullpen session, as he works his way back from a triceps strain.
