Eduardo Rodriguez turned in another gem last night, as the Tigers blanked the Twins 6-0. Rodriguez gave up just four hits over seven innings. Jake Rogers homered. Akil Baddoo, Miguel Cabrera and Kerry Carpenter each had two hits.

The Tigers host the Twins again tonight. Alex Faedo will pitch against Bailey Ober. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Faedo rejoins the Tigers from Toledo after struggling starter Joey Wentz was sent down to the Mud Hens.

Javier Báez remains with the Tigers, as preparations continue for the funeral of his grandfather in Puerto Rico. Team officials say he’ll miss some time next week to be with his family. Meanwhile, reliever Jason Foley has been placed on the bereavement list, following the death of his grandmother. Trey Wingenter will be called back from Toledo to fill in.

The Tigers played last night’s game with heavy hearts, after learning that long-time broadcaster Jim Price passed away on Monday. Price was a back-up catcher on the 1968 World series team, having joined the club via trade from the Pirates’ organization after the 1966 season. In 1979, he played for the Detroit Caesars in the short-lived American Professional Slow Pitch Softball League. That led to a job as an announcer on ESPN’s first live sports broadcast from the APSPL World Series that fall. He began providing television color commentary for PASS in 1993, then joined Ernie Harwell in the radio booth in 1998. His 24-year run made him the third-longest-tenured radio broadcaster in team history, after Harwell and Paul Carey. In recent years, failing health had forced him to cut back his broadcast schedule, but he kept at it until his final broadcast one month ago. Jim Price was 81.

The Rockies scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning, and buried the Brewers 7-3 last evening. With a runner already on base to start the inning, two walks and a bunt single off Andrew Chafin brought in one Colorado run. Abner Uribe relieved Chafin with the bases loaded, and issued two more walks and a sacrifice fly. The meltdown spoiled a good start by Wade Miley, who allowed a run on two hits over six innings. William Contreras and Andruw Monasterio homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers entertain the Rockies again this afternoon. Adrian Houser will start against Chris Flexen.

The Reds lost, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central Division remains at a game-and-a-half.
