Rilei Powers Kings Hockey Past Gremlins – Wednesday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school hockey last night…
• Calumet edged Houghton 2-1. Jackson Rilei gave the Copper Kings an early lead. Camden Markham tied it with a Gremlins goal early in the second period. Rilei’s second goal of the night midway through the third period was the game-winner. Paul Sturos assisted on both goals. Aksel Loukus stopped 27 shots for Calumet, and Bryant Lee turned away 13 for Houghton.
• Jeffers doubled up Negaunee 4-2.
• Hancock fell to Marquette 4-1.

In boys high school basketball last night…
• Houghton lost to Marquette 86-46.
• L’Anse downed Lake Linden-Hubbell 65-55.
• Ontonagon fell to Watersmeet 75-53.
• Ewen-Trout Creek outscored Wakefield-Marenisco 77-62.

In girls play last evening…
• Hancock lost to Westwood 45-38.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City stopped Watersmeet 51-36.
• Ontonagon defeated Chassell 58-40. Makennah Uotila scored 26 for the Gladiators. Kylee Sohlden had 14 for the Panthers.
• Ewen-Trout Creek dumped Wakefield-Marenisco 65-32.
• L’Anse got past Lake Linden-Hubbell 40-33 

On the boys schedule tonight…
• Hancock tips off at Dollar Bay-Tamarack City.
• Jeffers travels to Escanaba.
• Baraga plays at Watersmeet in a make-up from last Friday. The Baraga at Watersmeet girls game that was also rescheduled to tonight has been postponed again. No make-up date has been announced.

College Hockey

The Finlandia women’s hockey team lost 2-0 at Trine University last night. Kayla Savoie-Penton stopped 25 shots in the loss.

College Basketball

The Finlandia women’s basketball team cruised past Wisconsin-Superior 75-51 last night. Bailey Froberg scored 30 points. The Lions close their regular season with a record of 14-8. They will find out Monday whom they will play in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, which will be held late next week in Santa Cruz, California.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings visit the New York Rangers tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons take on the Celtics in Boston tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
