MLB

The Detroit Tigers fell to the Texas Rangers 10-5 last night. José Ureña suffered another rough outing, giving up four runs in the fourth inning, and leaving as the Rangers scored another in the fifth. Home runs by Robbie Grossman, Jake Rogers and Eric Haase helped the Tigers come back to tie the contest, but Texas scored three times off Daniel Norris and Joe Jiménez in the bottom of the seventh, and added two more off Bryan Garcia to seal the win in the eighth.

The Tigers conclude that series at Texas this afternoon. Casey Mize will start against Kyle Gibson. Coverage begins at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Tigers have assigned pitchers Alex Lange and Derek Holland to Toledo to begin rehab assignments.

The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets were rained out last night. Those teams will play a day-night doubleheader in the Big Apple today. In the afternoon contest, Corbin Burnes will start against Jacob deGrom. Brett Anderson will start for Milwaukee in the nightcap.

With Daniel Vogelbach sidelined, the Brewers have acquired first baseman Rowdy Tellez from the Blue Jays. Tellez hit 37 homers in 219 games over the past several seasons with Toronto. He was on the roster of their Buffalo Triple-A team at the time of the trade. In exchange, the Jays get two pitchers – Trevor Richards, who made 15 appearances for the Crew after he was obtained in a trade from the Rays in May, and minor leaguer Bowden Francis.

Milwaukee also concluded the trade that brought in third baseman Kevin Kramer from the Pirates over the weekend. Pittsburgh gets left-hander Nathan Kirby, who had been with the Brewers’ Double-A team in Biloxi.
