MLB – Tigers
Anibal Sanchez gave up single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, as the fading Detroit Tigers lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 last night. The Tigers closed the gap with single runs in the seventh and eighth, but the Rays added two insurance runs off Bruce Rondon to put the game away. Sanchez took the loss. Yoenis Cespedes homered for Detroit.
The Tigers continue that series at Tampa Bay tonight. David Price will start against Jake Odorizzi. Hear the first pitch at 7:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
After struggling again on Sunday, Shane Greene has lost his spot in the starting rotation. Buck Farmer has been called up from Toledo to cover Greene’s next start. Kyle Ryan has been sent back down. Manager Brad Ausmus says Greene will work out of the bullpen, for now.
Kyle Lohse became the first pitcher in the majors to lose 12 games this season, as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the San Francisco Giants 4-2 last night. Lohse surrendered all four San Francisco runs before leaving in the seventh inning.
The Brewers continue that series at San Francisco tonight. Wily Peralta will return from the disabled list to pitch against Matt Cain.
