Tigers Fall to Angels Again
The Tigers collected only four hits last night, and fell to the Angels 4-0. L-A starter Matt Shoemaker gave up three of those hits over seven innings. Detroit starter Justin Verlander also went seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits. The Tigers have been held scoreless for 14 straight innings.

Kansas City won… so Detroit now leads the Royals by five games in the American League Central Division.
Brewers Defeat Mets
The Brewers scored three runs in the fifth, and went on to beat the Mets 5-2 yesterday. Wily Peralta battled through six innings… giving up both New York runs, and earning his 12th win of the season.
The Brewers conclude that series against the Mets again tonight. Jimmy Nelson will start against Jacob deGrom.
Saint Louis won, but Pittsburgh lost… so Milwaukee leads the Cardinals by three games in the National League Central Division. The Pirates are four games back.
Portage Lake 9-10 Team Drops Second State Tourney Game
The Portage Lake Little League 9-10 team lost its second pool play game in the state tournament in Grand Rapids Saturday, falling 7-2 to Roosevelt Park. The local all-stars opened pool play Friday with an 8-2 loss to Lincoln Park North. Portage Lake will take the unbeaten South Portage team from the Kalamazoo area today at noon. The top two teams from each of the four pools advance to the quarterfinals on Monday. You can follow the progress of the tournament here.
Packers Extend Nelson
On the first day of training camp yesterday, the Green Bay Packers signed receiver Jordy Nelson to a four-year, 39-million dollar contract extension.
