Pistons Win, Wings Fall – Tuesday Sports Wrap

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings’ fade continued last night with a 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Gustav Nyquist and Tyler Bertuzzi scored. Jared Coreau stopped 27 shots. The Wings have dropped 13 of their past 14 games, and will entertain the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons rode a strong second half to a 112-106 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers last night. Reggie Jackson led a balanced attack with 20 points in 28 minutes – his best effort since returning from his ankle sprain. Andre Drummond grabbed 18 rebounds.  The Pistons will host the Washington Wizards Thursday night.

MTU
Michigan Tech hockey defenseman Mitch Reinke will not return to the Huskies next season. Reinke has agreed to a two-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. He will report to St. Louis this week. Reinke was sixth in the WCHA in assists and seventh in points among defensemen this season, despite missing nine games. He had two years of college eligibility remaining.

MLB
In spring training baseball, the Detroit Tigers played the Tampa Bay Rays to a 2-2 tie yesterday. JaCoby Jones and James McCann homered. Francisco Liriano gave up two runs over six innings. The Tigers will conclude their spring schedule with another game against the Rays this afternoon.

Detroit opens the regular season Thursday afternoon at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pregame coverage begins at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Astros in Houston 5-2 last night. Brent Suter gave up a run over five innings. The Brewers will wrap up their exhibition schedule with another contest against the Astros in Houston this afternoon.

NFL
Former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Suh was recently cut by the Miami Dolphins, after he declined to renegotiate his contract.
