Pistons Win, Wings Fall – Friday Sports Wrap

In high school hockey tomorrow evening…
– Calumet plays at Kingsford.
– Jeffers entertains Cheboygan.

MTU
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams welcome Ohio Dominican tomorrow. The women’s game begins at 1:00, and the men’s game at 3:00 at the SDC. Both Huskies teams entertain Tiffin on Sunday afternoon.

NMU
Both Northern Michigan University basketball teams host Tiffin tomorrow, and Ohio Dominican on Sunday.

Finlandia
Both Finlandia University basketball teams entertain Bethany Lutheran College tomorrow evening. The women’s game tips off at 6:30, and the men’s contest at 8:30 at the Paavo Nurmi Center. Both Lions teams host Martin Luther College on Sunday.

GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers play at Eagle River tonight and tomorrow night. The Calumet Wolverines have the weekend off.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings took a 2-0 lead in the first period, then gave up five straight and lost 5-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Justin Abdelkader and Brendan Smith scored for Detroit. Petr Mrazek stopped 32 of 36 shots in net. The Wings skate at Buffalo tomorrow afternoon.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-90 last night. The Pisons closed the game out with a dominant fourth quarter, in which they outscored the Wolves 37-20. Andre Drummond led Detroit with 23 points and 18 rebounds. Reggie Jackson added 19 points and nine assists. The Pistons play at Indianapolis tomorrow evening.

CFB
Alabama will face Clemson in the college football championship game on January 11th. The Crimson Tide advanced with a 38-0 whitewash of Michigan State last night. Clemson defeated Oklahoma 37-17.
