Pistons Drop Last-Second Heartbreaker – Thursday Sports Wrap

NBA

The Pistons suffered a tough 107-106 loss to the Thunder last evening. Jaylin Williams’ tip-in off a missed Josh Giddey shot with a tenth of a second remaining won the game for Oklahoma City. Jaden Ivey led Detroit with 24 points.

The Pistons visit the Rockets tomorrow.

NHL

The Red Wings entertain the Hurricanes tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit will end its season without forward Robby Fabbri, who will undergo surgery for a lower body injury.

MLB

The Tigers will open the regular season this afternoon at Tampa Bay. Eduardo Rodriguez will face Shane McClanahan. Coverage will begin at 2:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has picked up minor league outfielder Grant Witherspoon from the Rays, in exchange for cash considerations. He’s expected to provide some minor league depth.

The Tigers will start their campaign without pitchers Michael Lorenzen and Beau Brieske, and first baseman Tyler Nevin, who are all on the injured list.

Milwaukee opens the regular season today against the Cubs in Chicago. Corbin Burnes will start against Marcus Stroman.

The Brewers will begin the season without pitcher Adrian Houser, who’s been placed on the injured list because of a right groin strain. He joins pitchers Aaron Ashby and Justin Wilson on the sideline. Ashby is dealing with a shoulder problem, and Wilson continues to recover from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery. Outfielder Tyrone Taylor will also miss the start of the season, as rehabs from a sprained right elbow.

NFL

The Lions are bringing back receiver Marvin Jones, who played the last two seasons in Jacksonville. Jones will fill the roster spot created when free agent D.J. Chark signed with the Panthers.
