The MTU volleyball team has added three new players to the roster for next season. Laura DeMarchi is from Milan, Italy. She’s a setter who played for Whittemore-Prescott High School in Michigan as an exchange student last year. Olivia Ghormley is an outside hitter who played for Pulaski High School in Oneida, Wisconsin. Megan Utlak is a defensive specialist from Parma, Ohio.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons lost their fourth straight game last night, 99-96 to the Houston Rockets. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led Detroit with 26 points. Detroit got off to a fast start, and built a 20-8 lead early before cold shooting set in. They had a couple of chances to tie the game in the closing seconds, but Caldwell-Pope and Andre Drummond missed some crucial free throws. Drummond collected 16 rebounds, but didn’t get much help, as Houston dominated the boards 46-39. The Pistons will host the Miami Heat tomorrow night.

We should learn more today about the Pistons’ future at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Team owner Tom Gores, Ilitch Holdings president Chris Ilitch and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will hold a press conference this afternoon. Multiple reports from the Motor City say they will announce that the team will move to downtown Detroit, and share the new arena being built for the Detroit Red Wings. The Pistons have played at the Palace since 1988. The last time they called downtown Detroit home was the 1977-78 season at Cobo Arena.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will skate at Buffalo tomorrow night. Hear the broadcast on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

John Scott’s magical experience at last year’s NHL All-Star Game won’t be repeated by anyone this year. The former MTU star was voted onto the roster by fans from around the world, even though he spent much of his career in the minor leagues. He excelled in the game, was named the Most Valuable Player, and brought a ton of happiness and goodwill to the league. This year, league Scrooges have deemed that players must have been on an active NHL roster on November 1st to be eligible, and they lose their eligibility if they’re demoted to the minors before the game. There is an exception for injury rehab assignments. It’s already being called “The John Scott Rule.”

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, and rallied the Oakland Raiders to a 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans in a game played in Mexico City. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least 11 games correctly to be eligible to be this week’s winner.

MLB
Three former Detroit Tigers will appear on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot for the first time this year. Catcher Ivan Rodriguez, outfielder Magglio Ordoñez and infielder Carlos Guillen were part of the team that won the American League Pennant in 2006.

Our high school hockey coverage begins tonight, when Jeffers skates at L’Anse. The pregame show will start around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
