Michigan Tech outside hitter Aubrey Ficek has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Volleyball Player of the Week. Ficek racked up 39 kills and 20 digs in the Huskies’ wins over Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican last weekend.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

NBA
Ray McCallum’s tenure as backup point guard for the Detroit Pistons lasted only a couple of days. Yesterday, the team claimed veteran guard Beno Udrih off waivers from the Miami Heat. In turn, they waived McCallum, who had won the job in training camp after a tight battle with Lorenzo Brown. Udrih has far more experience, having played for seven NBA teams over a dozen seasons.
