• Houghton competes at a meet at Powderhorn Mountain in Ironwood.
College Basketball
Northern Michigan’s Max Weisbrod has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Weisbrod scored 43 points in the Wildcats’ wins over Lake Superior State and Ferris State.
NHL
The Wings visit the Panthers tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons earned their fourth win of the season yesterday, 129-117 over the Wizards. Playing without the injured Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit got 34 points from Alec Burks off the bench. Jalen Duren had 20 points and 19 rebounds. The four players traded between the two worst teams in the NBA Eastern Conference were all inactive for the game.
The Pistons host the Timberwolves tomorrow night.
NFL
In the NFL playoffs yesterday…
• In snowy Buffalo, the Bills eliminated the Steelers 31-17.
• In much-warmer Florida, the Buccaneers stunned the Eagles 32-9.
That sets up the schedule for this coming weekend.
On Saturday…
• The Ravens host the Texans at 4:30.
• The Packers visit the 49ers at 8:15.
On Sunday…
• The Lions host the Buccaneers at 3:00.
• The Chiefs visit the Bills at 6:30.
