NBA – Pistons Prepare for Pacers
The Pistons return to action tomorrow, when they host the Pacers. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
Detroit has acquired forward Anthony Tolliver from the Suns, in exchange for forward Tony Mitchell. Tolliver is in the first year of a two-year, six-million dollar deal. He had found little playing time in Phoenix, though, averaging 3.3 points per game in 24 games. Mitchell was Detroit’s second-round draft pick last season, and was playing for the Pistons’ D-League team in Grand Rapids. Phoenix is likely to release him, which would give them an open roster, and some salary cap space.
Several news organizations are reporting that former Piston Josh Smith is close to signing with the Houston Rockets.
NFL
There is no Thursday NFL game tonight. All of the contests in the final week of the season will be played on Sunday. The Lions face the Packers at Lambeau Field. Kickoff is at 1:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
Lions’ receiver Calvin Johnson missed practice yesterday. He reinjured his sprained right ankle during a play in Sunday’s win over the Bears. Running back Joique Bell has also been added to Detroit’s injury report, with an Achilles tendon problem. He’s expected to play on Sunday. On the Green Bay side, quarterback Aaron Rodgers saw limited practice time. He’s dealing with a calf injury he suffered in Sunday’s victory over the Buccaneers.
