In the race for the final Eastern Conference wild card playoff berth, the Flyers lost last night, and dropped into a virtual tie with the Penguins. Each team has 83 standings points, but Pittsburgh has a game in hand. The Wings and Capitals each have 82 standings points. Philadelphia has four regular-season games remaining. Pittsburgh has five, including one against Detroit Thursday. Washington and Detroit each have six, including a game against each other Tuesday.

NBA

The Pistons couldn’t hold a 19-point second half lead, and lost to the Nets 113-103 Saturday night. Chimezie Metu led Detroit with 20 points. Marcus Sasser added 18. Jalen Duren missed the game with a sore ankle, and Evan Fournier was held out with a sore knee.

The Pistons visit the 76ers Tuesday night.

MLB

The Tigers were shut out 4-0 by the Athletics Saturday. Kenta Maeda took the loss, allowing a two-run homer in the first inning, and another after leaving in the sixth. He gave up just two hits.

The Tigers host the Athletics again today. Jack Flaherty will pitch against Joe Boyle. Because of Red Wings hockey, today’s game will not be broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers’ late comeback fell short in a 5-3 loss to the Mariners Saturday. Jackson Chourio’s two-run homer and Rhys Hoskins’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth narrowed the gap. D.L. Hall took the loss, pitching into the sixth, while giving up three runs.

The Brewers welcome the Mariners again this afternoon. Colin Rea will start against Emerson Hancock.

Milwaukee has placed pitcher Jakob Junis on the 15-day injured list because of a right shoulder problem. Aaron Ashby has been called up from Nashville to fill in.
