High School

In girls regional semifinal basketball games last night…
• In Division Four, Lake Linden-Hubbell fell to Ewen-Trout Creek 51-44. Ishpeming overpowered Carney-Nadeau 79-46. The Panthers and Hematites will play for the regional title tomorrow at 7:00, with the site currently listed as Marquette High School.
• In Division Three, West Iron County dispatched Harbor Springs 52-47. Elk Rapids smothered Roscommon 57-19. The Wykons and Elks will vie for the regional crown tomorrow at 7:00 at Saint Ignace High School.
• In Division Two, Negaunee advanced with a 43-29 win over Petoskey. Ludington eliminated Clare 43-34. The Miners and Orioles will meet for the regional title tomorrow at 7:00 at Petoskey High School.

In boys quarterfinal games tonight…
• In Division Four, Forest Park plays St. Ignace at 7:00 at Gladstone. Hear the broadcast on WIKB 99.1 FM.
• In Division Three, Menominee takes on McBain at 5:00 at Gaylord High School.
• In Division Two, Kingsford meets Flint Catholic Central at 7:00 at Gaylord High School.

College Hockey

Neither Michigan Tech nor Northern Michigan landed any players on the All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association First Team. Forward Jared Westcott from Lake Superior State did make the cut. Isaac Gordon and Blake Pietila of the Huskies, Josh Zinger of the Wildcats, and Connor Milburn of the Lakers earned Second Team honors. Gordon and LSSU’s John Herrington were named to the All-Rookie team.

Michigan Tech will host Minnesota State in one CCHA tournament semifinal Saturday night. Lake Superior State will play at Bemidji State in the other.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Sabres tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons logged another victory last night, outscoring the Hornets 114-97. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 22 points, and Jalen Duren grabbed 10 rebounds.

 The Pistons host the Raptors tomorrow, with coverage at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers scored four runs in the eighth inning, and beat the Astros 5-3 yesterday. Timely singles by prospects Eddys Leonard and Trei Cruz each drove in two runs. Starter Reese Olson gave up a run on two hits over four innings.

The Tigers will play the Twins today. Kenta Maeda will start.

The Brewers had yesterday off, and face the Cubs today. Colin Rea will start.

NFL

NFL teams continue to juggle their rosters in advance of next month’s draft.

The Packers have released tackle David Bakhtiari after 11 seasons, and running back Aaron Jones after seven campaigns.

The Lions have signed edge rusher Marcus Davenport, and re-signed guard Graham Glasgow. They also traded a third-round draft pick to the Buccaneers for cornerback Carlton Davis.
