MLB

The Tigers were held to just five hits in a 3-1 loss to the Giants Saturday. Detroit’s only run came in the fifth inning, when Parker Meadows tripled, then raced home when Dillon Dingler hit into a fielder’s choice. On another bullpen day, Alex Faedo opened with a scoreless inning. Brant Hurter followed, and allowed three runs over five frames.

The Tigers continue that series at San Francisco this afternoon. Keider Montero will start against Hayden Birdsong. Coverage will begin at 3:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit may have lost Wenceel Pérez for the rest of the season. The abdominal tightness that forced him from Friday’s game has been diagnosed as an oblique strain. Akil Baddoo has been called back up from Toledo to fill in.

The Brewers won their fifth straight game Saturday, shading the Reds 1-0. Rhys Hoskins’ homer in the bottom of the eighth was one of just two Milwaukee hits. Tobias Myers and two relievers held Cincinnati to three hits.

The Brewers host the Reds again today. Milwaukee has not named a starter. Nick Lodolo will open for Cincinnati.

NFL

The Packers opened their exhibition campaign with a crisp 23-10 victory over the Browns Saturday. Jordan Love made a brief appearance, and connected with Dontayvion Wicks on a 65-yard touchdown pass.
