The Senators will use a selection they got from the Sharks to pick third. The Red Wings will pick fourth. Only the first round will take place this evening. Rounds two through seven will resume late tomorrow morning.

NFL

Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes, as the Packers grounded the Falcons 30-16. Rodgers completed 27 of 33 passes for 327 yards.

The Chiefs shut down the Patriots 26-10. Playing without Cam Newton, New England quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham threw for less than 200 yards, with three interceptions. That game was delayed from Sunday, because of Newton’s COVID-19 diagnosis.

The NFL has laid down the law about following COVID-19 safety procedures. New penalties include possible forfeits if teams can’t play because of outbreaks.

Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia is trying to explain a statement he recently made that has some current and former players upset. After Sunday’s loss to the Saints, Patricia was asked if he still thinks he’s the right coach for the Lions. Patricia responded by saying “When I came to Detroit, there was a lot of work to do.” Former Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky was quick to point out that the team Patricia inherited had won nine games in each of its two previous seasons, and didn’t need all that much work. In two-plus seasons since Patricia took over, the team has won 10 games total. Yesterday, Patricia said that the “lot of work to do” phrase is one he uses consistently, and represents a general philosophy.
