In the baseball playoffs, the Nationals defeated the Dodgers 5-2 yesterday. That National League Divisional Series is tied at a win per team, and continues this afternoon in Los Angeles. The Cubs play at San Francisco tonight. Chicago leads the Giants two games to none.
The Blue Jays advanced to the American League Championship Series by sweeping the Rangers with a 7-6, 10-inning victory. Cleveland’s game at Boston was rained out, and will be made up this evening. The Indians lead that series two games to none.

The Detroit Pistons continue their preseason schedule at home against the Spurs tonight. Hear selected Pistons regular-season games on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NFL
Matt Prater’s 29-yard field goal with 88 seconds remaining lifted the Detroit Lions to a 24-23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday. Prater’s kick was set up when Tyrunn Walker recovered a Philadelphia fumble. Darius Slay’s sealed the win by picking off a Carson Wentz pass a few seconds later.
Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes, as the Green Bay Packers got past the New York Giants 23-16 last night. Mason Crosby kicked three field goals.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings’ first round of roster cuts cost them a player yesterday. Martin Frk was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes. Nick Jensen, Eric Tangradi, Mitch Callahan and Brian Lashoff cleard waivers, and have been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins along with goaltender Jared Coreau.
