In high school volleyball Saturday…
- At the Escanaba Invitational, Jeffers defeated Westwood 2-0 (25-16, 25-21), defeated Bark River Harris 2-0 (25-17, 25-16), lost to Forest Park 2-0 (26-27, 15-25) and tied Escanaba 1-1 (21-25, 25-18).
On the volleyball schedule tonight…
- Hancock entertains L’Anse
- Ontonagon hosts Wakefield-Marenisco.
In cross country, Houghton, Calumet, Hancock, and Chassell will be among the teams competing at Houghton.
College Soccer
The Michigan Tech soccer team fell 2-0 to Ferris State yesterday.
The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team downed Saginaw Valley State 3-1.
The NMU men’s team lost to Roosevelt University 1-0.
NBA
The Pistons outscored the Bucks 120-87 in their preseason opener last night. Jaden Ivey scored 22 points. Jalen Duren grabbed nine rebounds.

NHL
The Red Wings open their regular season Thursday at home against the Penguins. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Wings coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.
MLB
The Tigers and Guardians will play game two of their American League Divisional Playoff Series this afternoon. Tarik Skubal will pitch against former Tiger Matthew Boyd. Coverage will begin at 3:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
NFL
Jordan Love threw two touchdown passes as the Packers got past the Rams 24-19 yesterday. Josh Jacobs rushed for 73 yards and one score.
The Cowboys slipped past the Steelers 20-17 in last night’s game. Dak Prescott’s four-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert with 20 seconds remaining was the game-winner.
The Saints visit the Chief in tonight’s contest, with the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
The Lions had this weekend off.
