The Lions men’s soccer team plays at Lawrence University tonight.

GLIAC

Two Michigan Tech football players have been honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Defensive back Travis Tidwell was named Defensive Player of the Week, and placekicker Evan Gornick was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings skate at Vancouver tonight. Pregame coverage will begin at 9:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons continue their exhibition schedule tonight at Philadelphia. Listen for selected Pistons regular-season games again this year on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Washington Nationals pounded the Saint Louis Cardinals 8-1 last night, and took a 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. Game four will be played in Saint Louis tonight.

The American League Championship Series will resume this afternoon in New York, with the Yankees and Houston Astros tied 1-1.

The Milwaukee baseball writers have named Christian Yelich the team’s Most Valuable Player for the second season in a row. Brandon Woodruff was named Most Valuable Pitcher.

The Brewers are replacing first base coach Carlos Subero. The rest of the coaching staff is expected to return.

NFL

In last night’s NFL game, Mason Crosby’s 23-yard field goal as time expired gave the Green Bay Packers a 23-22 victory over the Detroit Lions. Aaron Rodgers threw for two touchdowns, and Jamaal Williams ran for 104 yards. The Green Bay defense held the Lions’ running attack to just 56 yards. Matt Prater kicked five field goals for Detroit.

The Copper Country Track Club is hosting the annual 5k Muck Run Saturday at the Tech Trails. Race day registration opens at 8:30, and the run begins at 10:00.
