MTU/NMU
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams play at Ashland this evening.

Both Northern Michigan University basketball teams visit Wayne State University this evening.

Former Hancock standout Alex Nordstrom will play college hockey at Michigan Tech. The official announcement came yesterday through his current junior hockey team, the Grande Prairie Storm. Nordstrom was a member of the Bulldogs team that won a state championship in 2016, and the Team Copper Country squad that won two national titles. He has 10 goals and 13 assists in 25 games this season with the Storm in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings’ struggles continued with a 5-3 loss to the Calgary Flames last night. Detroit jumped out to a 2-0 lead with first period goals from Darren Helm and Jacob de la Rose, but the Flames scored three times in the second period, and twice in the third to put the game away. Andreas Athanasiou also scored for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 30 shots. The Wings entertain the Nashville Predators tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

Howard has been selected to represent the Red Wings on the Atlantic Division team in the upcoming NHL All-Star Game.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons broke out of their slump with a 104-94 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies last evening. Blake Griffin scored 26 points The Pistons host the Utah Jazz Saturday evening.
