College Basketball

The Northern Michigan women’s basketball team completed a weekend sweep of Lake Superior State University yesterday with an 83-66 victory. The Wildcats built a 15-point lead five minutes into the game, and never looked back.

The Northern men’s team used a strong first half to salvage a weekend split with a 91-70 victory over LSSU yesterday.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings’ losing streak reached six games yesterday, with a 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers. Dylan Larkin’s early goal gave Detroit a brief advantage, before the Panthers scored three straight to take control. Anthony Mantha’s late tally made it close. Thomas Griess stopped 27 shots, and took the loss in net.

The Wings visit the Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday. Coverage begins at 5:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons continue their western trip tonight, when they visit the Denver Nuggets. Coverage will start at 8:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

Quarterback Jared Goff says he’s looking forward to a fresh start with a team that wants him. Goff discussed his trade from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions with NFL.com yesterday. The rebuilding Lions also get L-A’s third-round pick in this year’s draft, and their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. The Rams get quarterback Matthew Stafford, who can look forward to joining a contending team after years of frustration in the Motor City. While the deal seems to be solid, under league rules it cannot be made official until March 17th.
