NMU Hockey Edges FSU in OT – Thursday Sports Wrap

The Northern Michigan University hockey team overcame an early 3-0 deficit, and rallied to edge Ferris State University 6-5 in overtime last night. Vincent de May and A.J. Vanderbeck each scored twice for the Wildcats. Joseph Nardi’s tap-in in overtime was the game-winner.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University baseball team has introduced a new recruit. Cash Bassett is an infielder from Haskell, Texas.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings have released their training camp roster. The 40-player list includes 23 forwards, 12 defensemen, and five goaltenders. The Wings open camp tomorrow. They have set three scrimmages in advance of their season-opener January 14th against the Carolina Panthers. Hear Red Wings games again this season on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons host the Boston Celtics tomorrow. Coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

All of this week’s NFL games will be played Sunday. The Detroit Lions wrap up their season at home against the Minnesota Vikings with a 1:00 game Sunday on 99.3 The Lift. The Green Bay Packers tune up for the playoffs with a 1:00 game against the Bears in Chicago.

Yesterday, the Packers claimed offensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks. The 32-year-old veteran had played in six games for Seattle this season, after spending a couple of years with the Detroit Lions.
