The NHL Board of Governors will meet this afternoon via conference call. The league is still hoping to salvage the rest of the 2019-2020 regular season and playoffs. In case it can’t, contingency plans will be discussed regarding league and team finances, staff and player salaries, and the amateur draft. It’s estimated the NHL could lose as much as $1 billion because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NFL

The NFL can begin signing players off the XFL team rosters today. On Friday, the XFL officially canceled the remainder of its season, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. XFL officials promised to bring the league back next season.

Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has reassured athletes that the upcoming games will not be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic – but now admits that they could be delayed, or modified.
