High School

In high school football last night…
• Ontonagon outscored Stephenson 42-14.

Michigan Tech

The Michigan Tech soccer team will host Minnesota-Duluth today at noon.

At the U.P. Open volleyball showcase in Marquette yesterday, the Michigan Tech volleyball team fell to second-ranked Concordia-Saint Paul 3-1. The Huskies wrap up play at Vandament Arena today, facing Minnesota Crookston at 11:30, and Hillsdale at 4:30.

NMU

Also at the U.P. Open, the host Northern Michigan volleyball team lost to Concordia-Saint Paul 3-0, and Hillsdale 3-0 yesterday. The Wildcats face Northwood tonight.

MLB

Eduardo Rodriguez sparkled, as the Tigers defeated the White Sox 4-2 last night. Rodriguez pitched into the seventh, scattered six hits, and allowed one run. Riley Greene had two hits and drove in two runs.

The Tigers visit the White Sox again tonight. Reese Olson will start against Mike Clevinger. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers outscored the Phillies 7-5. Freddy Peralta allowed a run over six innings, and struck out 10. Milwaukee took the lead with a three-run Willy Adames homer in the fourth inning. Philadelphia surged ahead with four runs in the top of the eighth, but Milwaukee match that total in the bottom of the inning. The big blow – so to speak – was a bases-loaded ground ball to third off the bat of Owen Miller that skidded under the glove of Alec Bohm. As the ball trickled into the left field corner, three runs scored on the error.

The Brewers host the Phillies again tonight. Colin Rea will start against Aaron Nola.

The Cubs lost to the Reds, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central Division stands at three and a half games over Chicago, and six and a half over Cincinnati.

Roller Derby

Keweenaw Roller Derby will host its ninth annual Solar System Smackdown tonight at the Colosseum. Doors open at 5:00, and action begins at 6:00.
