MLB

The Tigers have signed utility player Bligh Madris to a minor league deal. Madris has a history of performing well at Triple A, but has not been able to translate that into success at the Major League level. He played in the Houston and Tampa Bay systems last season. He was also a Tiger – briefly. Detroit claimed him off waivers before the start of last season, then sold his contract to the Astros.

The Brewers have traded infielder Abraham Toro to the Athletics. Toro spent most of last season with Triple-A Nashville. In exchange, Milwaukee gets pitcher Chad Patrick, who struggled in Oakland’s minor league system this past season.

Team owners are scheduled to vote today on the A’s proposed move to Las Vegas.
