Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team dropped a 78-59 decision at Lakeland College last night. The Lions were outscored 36-11 in the second quarter, and couldn’t work their way back. Julia Nordstrom led Finlandia with 15 points.
The Finlandia men’s team also fell behind early, and lost 84-65 at Lakeland. Brandon Robinette had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Lions.
MTU
The Michigan Tech volleyball team is headed to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinals, after sweeping Tiffin 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 last night at the SDC. Lauren Emmert had 13 kills, Laura DeMarchi had 41 assists, and Elle Heinonen recorded 18 digs. The third-seeded Huskies will face second seed Northern Michigan University in the semifinals Saturday at 5:30 at Ferris State University.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings exploded for an 8-2 victory over the Calgary Flames last night. Anthony Mantha and Andreas Athanasiou each scored twice, and Dylan Larkin had a goal and two assists. Jimmy Howard stopped 26 shots. The contest was marred by a major, old-time brawl late in the game. The Wings welcome the Buffalo Sabres tomorrow. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ five game winning streak ended with a 99-95 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last night. Detroit came from 13 points down to tie the game with a minute to go, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Avery Bradley scored 28 points, and Andre Drummond grabbed 17 rebounds. The Pistons visit the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night.
NFL
