College Hockey

Michigan Tech has added an exhibition game to its hockey schedule this fall.

The Huskies will host Lakehead University from Thunder Bay on Monday, October 3.

College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team has been picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference this season.

Grand Valley finished first in the preseason coaches poll, with Ferris State second. Northern Michigan came in fourth.

The Huskies begin their campaign tomorrow at Minnesota Duluth.

MLB

The Tigers fell to the Giants 3-1 last night. Drew Hutchison took another tough loss, giving up a run on four hits over five innings. Daniel Norris allowed the other two runs in the sixth. Eric Haase singled home Javier Báez with Detroit’s only run in the seventh. Detroit loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn’t score.

The Tigers host the Giants again this afternoon. Matt Manning will start against Logan Webb. Coverage begins at 12:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has added second baseman Jonathan Schoop to the injured list. He sprained an ankle while running the bases Saturday. Infielder Zack Short has been called up from Toledo to fill in.

The Dodgers blasted Corbin Burnes early and often, and routed the Brewers 10-1 last evening. Burnes was charged with seven runs before leaving in the fourth inning. Milwaukee got just four hits, including an RBI single by Jonathan Davis in the fifth.

The Brewers visit the Dodgers again tonight. Adrian Houser will pitch against Andrew Heaney.

Milwaukee has sent third baseman Mike Brosseau to the injured list. He left Monday night’s game with an oblique injury. Pablo Reyes has been brought up from Nashville.
