The regional semifinals are set in the high school volleyball tournament.
– In Class B, Houghton faces Kingsley tomorrow at 6:00 at Cheboygan. Gladwin and Cadillac will meet in the other semifinal.
– In Class C, Calumet takes on Munising at 7:30 tomorrow at Gladstone. Rudyard and Iron Mountain meet in the other semifinal.
– In Class D, Lake Linden-Hubbell plays Carney-Nadeau at 7:30 tomorrow at Westwood. Rapid River faces Forest Park in the other semifinal.

MTU Athletics Logo BThe MTU soccer team lost 5-0 to top-seeded Grand Valley State in the championship game of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference soccer tournament yesterday afternoon. Jaci Mielke, Kat Farkas and Emily Morin were named to the All-Tournament team. The Huskies will find out today if they’ve earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament.

The Detroit Pistons open a west coast road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Detroit Red Wings’ losing streak reached five games, with a 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers yesterday afternoon. Former Detroit goalie Jonas Gustavsson stopped 22 shots to earn the win in his first start for the Oilers. Jimmy Howard made 26 saves, and took the loss for Detroit. The Wings skate at Philadelphia tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Lions earned yet another come-from-behind victory yesterday, with a 22-16 overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota appeared to put the game away by scoring a touchdown with 23 seconds remaining in regulation. The Lions responded with a quick drive that set up a 58-yard Matt Prater field goal to force the extra period. On the first drive of overtime, Golden Tate caught a Matthew Stafford pass, and forced his way along the sideline for the winning touchdown.

The Indianapolis Colts returned the opening kickoff for 99 yards, and held off a late comeback to stun the Green Bay Packers 31-26 yesterday. Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes – two in the fourth quarter.

In last night’s contest, the Oakland Raiders defeated the Denver Broncos 30-20.

Tonight, the Buffalo Bills visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hear the broadcast on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
