High School

On the boys high school basketball schedule this evening…
• Calumet plays at Ishpeming. Coverage will begin around 7:00 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell visits Dollar Bay-Tamarack City.

In girls action tonight…
• Hancock plays at Houghton. Coverage will start around 7:00 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.

In a boys-girls doubleheaders tonight…
• Chassell tips off at Baraga.
• L’Anse plays at Jeffers.

The girls tournament begins a week from tonight. Pairings were announced over the weekend.
• Division Two semifinals will be played Monday. Escanaba travels to Cheboygan. Houghton plays at Kingsford, with the broadcast at 6:40 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf. The District championship will be decided Wednesday.
• Division Three quarterfinals will be played Monday. Ishpeming will face Gwinn, with the winner taking on Hancock Wednesday. Westwood will play Negaunee, with the winner facing Calumet Wednesday. The district title game will be played next Friday.
• Division Four, District 98 quarterfinals will be played Monday. Dollar Bay-Tamarack City will meet Chassell at 6:00 at Dollar Bay. The winner will take on Baraga Wednesday. Jeffers will play L’Anse at 6:00 at Jeffers. The winner will face Lake Linden-Hubbell Wednesday. The district title will be decided next Friday.
• Division Four, District 97 quarterfinals will be played Monday, with all tournament games staged at Bessemer. Ironwood and Bessemer will play in the early game, with the winner to face Ontonagon. Watersmeet will take on Wakefield-Marenisco in the nightcap, with the winner to play Ewen-Trout Creek. The district title will be decided next Friday.

The Copper Country Christian School girls basketball team swept the Northland Scholars Academy this weekend, with 44-25 and 26-8 victories. The Warriors boys teams lost 66-28 and 49-23.

College Skiing

Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan dominated the Central Collegiate Ski Association championships in Minneapolis over the weekend. The Huskies won the men’s team title by a single point over the Wildcats. The Huskies women’s team placed second, seven points behind NMU. The disparity gave the Wildcats the overall team title.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Capitals tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

Because of the all-star break, the Pistons are off until they visit the Magic Thursday night.

MLB

The Tigers hold their first full spring training workouts in Lakeland, Florida today. They’ll face the Phillies in their first Grapefruit League contest Saturday.

The Brewers begin full-team workouts tomorrow, and face the Dodgers in their first Cactus League game Saturday.

Milwaukee has signed former Tigers reliever Justin Wilson to a one-year contract. Wilson is recovering from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery, and is expected to be game-ready by mid-season.
