• Baraga shut down Ontonagon 55-28.
• Chassell defeated L’Anse 58-45. Eli Danison led the Panthers with 29 points, and Kalvin Kytta added 10. Easton Foucault scored 14 for the Purple Hornets.
• Jeffers overpowered Ewen-Trout Creek 70-30.
In girls action last night…
• Houghton stopped West Iron County 71-49. Eva Gerard had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Gremlins. Clea Ollanketo added 20, and Danica Ryynanen had 12. Danica Shamion scored 21 for the Wykons.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell outscored Bessemer 81-45. Emily Jokela had 25 points, as the Lakes remained unbeaten.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City lost to Ironwood 43-29.

The Houghton swim team split its meet against Kingsford yesterday…
• The girls fell 96-87. The Gremlins got wins from Alaina Eles in the 200 freestyle, Ross Dennis in the 500 freestyle, and Meg Ruohonen in diving.
• The boys earned an 83-70 victory. Brett Gaff won the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Beau Haataja won the 50 freestyle, Josh Bennett the 100 backstroke, Ian Evans the 100 breaststroke, and Baha Saleem the diving competition.
The Houghton swim team competes at the Marquette Splash and Dash tomorrow.

College Basketball
Cold shooting and foul trouble plagued the Michigan Tech women’s team in an 80-41 loss at Parkside last night. The Huskies scored 22 points in the first quarter, and just 19 for the rest of the game.
The Tech men’s team used a strong second half to claim a 78-71 victory over the Rangers. Marcus Tomashek scored 32 points.
Both Tech teams tip off at Purdue Northwest tomorrow.
Jacy Weisbrod scored a career-best 24 points, as the Northern Michigan women’s team outpointed Purdue Northwest 76-62 last evening.
The Wildcats men’s team got past the Pride 82-78, and claimed its 10th straight victory. Brian Parzych scored 24, and Max Weisbrod added 23.
Both NMU teams play at Parkside tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team welcomes Bemidji State tonight at 7:07 and tomorrow at 6:07.
The Northern Michigan hockey squad hosts Saint Thomas tonight and tomorrow.

The Calumet Wolverines are on the west coast for games against the Santa Rosa Growlers tonight and tomorrow night.

The Tigers have claimed right-handed reliever Devin Sweet off waivers from the Giants. He split time between the Mariners and Athletics last summer, before being claimed by San Francisco after the season. Infielder Tyler Nevin was designated for assignment to create room on the 40-man roster.
