Tigers Open West Coast Trip
The Tigers had yesterday off, and open an interleague series against the Dodgers on the West Coast tonight. Max Scherzer will start against Dan Haren. We’ll join the game after Red Wings hockey on AM 1400, WCCY.
The Brewers face the Phillies in Philadelphia’s home opener this afternoon. That game was originally scheduled for yesterday… but was postponed because of poor weather. Kyle Lohse will pitch against Kyle Kendrick.
Red Wings to Face Sabres
The Red Wings have four games remaining in the final week of the regular season… starting tonight at Buffalo. Faceoff is at 7:00 on AM 1400, WCCY. If the season ended today, Detroit and Columbus would claim the two wildcard playoff positions. New Jersey is within striking distance. Any combination of five standings points earned by the Red Wings… or lost by the Devils… would put Detroit in the playoffs for the 23rd straight year.
WCHA to Introduce New Commissioner
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association is scheduled to introduce its new commissioner at a news conference this afternoon. Current Commissioner Bruce McLeod will be retiring June 30th, after 20 years leading the league.
Pistons Visit Atlanta
The Pistons play at Atlanta tonight. With five games remaining in the regular season, Detroit has been eliminated from the playoffs.
Connecticut Wins NCAA Men’s Title
The University of Connecticut led from start to finish, and defeated the University of Kentucky 60-54 to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament last night. Shabazz Napier led the Huskies with 22 points.
Detroit Lions Sign Cornerback
The Detroit Lions have signed veteran cornerback Cassius Vaughn. Vaughn had three interceptions for the Colts last season.
