MLB: Sanchez’ Gem Spoiled in Seventh
Anibal Sanchez took a one-hitter into the seventh inning last night… but the White Sox broke through for three runs, and beat the Tigers 3-1. Detroit’s only run came on a bases-loaded groundout by Alex Avila in the second inning. The Tigers continue that home set against the White Sox tonight. Justin Verlander will pitch against Charlie Leesman. Full details from yesterday’s game are here.

The Tigers have placed reliever Luke Putkonen on the disabled list with inflammation in his left elbow. Outfielder J.D. Martinez has been brought up from Toledo to replace him. The Brewers edged the Padres 4-3. Wily Peralta pitched into the seventh inning. Aramis Ramirez homered, and Ryan Braun drove in two runs. The Brewers host the Padres again tonight. Yovani Gallardo will start against Ian Kennedy. Full details from last night’s game are here.
