Morning Sports for Thursday, April 24th:

MLB: Tigers Slammed by White Sox
Marcus Semien’s grand slam off Ian Kroll lifted the White Sox to a 6-4 victory over the Tigers last night. Kroll had entered the game in the seventh inning after Evan Reed loaded the bases. The blast spoiled a good start by Drew Smyly… who gave up a couple of runs in the first inning… but then settled in, and pitched through the sixth. The Tigers wrap up that home set against the White Sox this afternoon. Max Scherzer will pitch against Jose Quintana. Hear the first pitch at 1:08 on AM 1400, WCCY. Full details from yesterday’s game are here.

Kyle Lohse held the Padres to five hits over seven innings, as the Brewers beat the Padres 5-2. Jean Segura and Khris Davis homered for Milwaukee… which has the best record in baseball. The Brewers have today off, and open a weekend home series against the Cubs tomorrow night. Former Cub Matt Garza will start against Carlos Villanueva. Full details from last night’s game are here.

NHL: Red Wings
The Red Wings host the Bruins in the fourth game of their opening-round N-H-L playoff series tonight. Detroit trails the best-of-seven set two games to one. Captain Henrik Zetterberg took part in a full team practice yesterday… but wouldn’t say if he felt sufficiently recovered from back surgery to ask doctors for permission to play tonight. Faceoff is at 8:00 on AM 1400, WCCY. Hear the broadcast on AM 1400, WCCY.
