MLB: Scherzer Pitches Tigers Past Angels
Max Scherzer gave up a home run to the first batter he faced… the blanked the Angels over seven innings, as the Tigers claimed a 5-2 victory. Nick Castellanos hit a two-run homer for Detroit, and Victor Martinez hit a solo shot. Scherzer earned the win – his first of the season. Braun’s Late Homer Stuns Pirates
Ryan Braun’s two-run homer in the top of the ninth lifted the Brewers to a 9-8 victory over the Pirates. The blast was Braun’s second of the game, and came off Pittsburgh closer Jason Grilli. The Pirates had taken the lead by scoring five runs in the fourth inning. The Brewers wrap up that series in Pittsburgh this afternoon. Marco Estrada will start against Gerrit Cole. Finlandia Baseball Splits with Maranatha Baptist
The Finlandia University baseball team split a pair of games with Maranatha Baptist University on Saturday. The Lions won the opener 3-1. Luke Paul gave up just four hits and struck out seven to earn a complete-game victory. Finlandia dropped the nightcap 4-3. On Friday, the Lions lost both ends of a doubleheader at Illinois Tech. In the first game, the Lions opened a brief early lead by scoring twice in the first inning. The Hawks responded with a 12-run third inning, and cruised to a 12-6 victory. Finlandia lost the second game 12-0.

Red Wings Face Bruins in Playoff Game Two
The Red Wings play the second game of their opening-round N-H-L playoff series this afternoon at 3:00 at Boston. We’ll join it in progress after Tigers’ baseball on AM 1400, WCCY. Detroit leads the series one game to none.
