College Soccer

Cassie Bonifas’ goal off a free kick lifted the Michigan Tech soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Davenport University yesterday.

The 19th-ranked Northern Michigan women’s team shaded ninth-ranked Grand Valley 1-0 yesterday – the Wildcats’ first win over the Lakers in 13 years. The Northern men’s team played to a 0-0 tie with Davenport yesterday.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Blue Jackets tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.

MLB

The Rangers blanked the Astros 2-0 in the opening game of the American League Championship series last evening. Those teams play again tonight in Houston.

The National League Championship Series begins this evening, as the Phillies entertain the Diamondbacks.

NFL

The Lions stifled the Buccaneers 20-6 yesterday. Jared Goff threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns. Amon-Ra St. Brown, who missed last week’s game with an injury, made 12 catches. Running back David Montgomery suffered a rib injury late in the first half, and did not return. Initial x-rays yesterday showed no serious damage, but he’ll be evaluated further today. Rookie backup Jahmyr Gibbs has missed two games because of a hamstring injury, but could return next week.

In last night’s contest, the Bills got past the Giants 14-9.

Tonight, the Chargers host the Cowboys, with coverage on 99.3 The Lift.

The Packers had the weekend off.
