Milbrath Named Assistant Finlandia AD

From Finlandia Univeristy – Finlandia University has named Phil Milbrath as the Assistant Athletic Director. Milbrath, who will be handling compliance, academics, facilities and assist with game day operations, will start today, Dec. 1. For the past two and a half years, Milbrath has served as Director of Football Operations in addition to Running Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

“I’m excited to have Phil on board to assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic department,” said Athletic Director Curtis Wittenberg. “Phil has a passion for working as a college athletics administrator. I look forward to him bringing that passion into his new role within our athletic department.”

A native of Norway, Mich., Milbrath ran for 3700 yards and 50 touchdowns during his last two years at Norway High School. He was the Upper Peninsula Offensive Player of the Year in both of those seasons.

Milbrath earned four letters in football at Michigan Technological University where he was an NCAA Division II All-America and a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the best DII player in the country. He ran for 3934 and 44 touchdowns, caught 64 passes for 755 yards and seven touchdowns and scored 308 points. Milbrath has a B.S. in Sports Management and a Master’s in Business Administration, both from Michigan Tech.

“I’m excited to move into this position with Finlandia University athletics,” said Milbrath. “Working with and helping start the football program over the past two and a half years has been great. My career goal since enrolling in college has been to work in athletic administration. I look forward to working with all of the coaches and student-athletes here at Finlandia.”
