The Detroit Tigers blasted six home runs in a come-from-behind 10-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals last night. Detroit’s power surge began early, with two solo home runs by Victor Martinez, and a solo shot by Nick Castellanos. Still, the Tigers trailed 4-3 as they came to bat in the top of the seventh inning. James McCann tied the game with a solo homer, and Miguel Cabrera gave Detroit the lead with a two-run blast. The Tigers added three more runs without a homer in the eighth, and Victor Martinez capped the night with his third home run in the top of the ninth. Justin Verlander gave up four runs – three in the first two innings – and worked seven innings to earn the win.

The Tigers continue that series in Kansas City tonight. Michael Fulmer will pitch against Yordano Ventura. Hear the first pitch at 8:15 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
