MacInnes Tourney Opens Tonight – Wednesday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school hockey, the MacInnes Holiday Tournament opens tonight. Houghton faces Howell at 6:00, and Hancock takes on Calumet at 8:00. Our pregame broadcast will begin at 5:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. We will air the consolation and championship matches tomorrow. Please remember to support the tournament’s winter clothing drive by bringing new or gently used winter wear to the games at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The clothing will be distributed to students in the Calumet, Houghton and Hancock schools.

In girls basketball, Houghton plays at Westwood.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons shut down the Indiana Pacers 107-83 last night. Tobias Harris scored 30 points, and Andre Drummond grabbed 18 rebounds. The victory was marred by the loss of point guard Reggie Jackson, who had collected 13 assists before spraining his ankle in the third quarter. it’s not yet known how severe the injury is, and how much time he’ll miss. Ish Smith will take over as the starter when the Pistons visit the Orlando Magic tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Red Wings visit the New Jersey Devils tonight. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
Matthew Stafford will start at quarterback for the Detroit Lions when they host the Green Bay Packers Sunday afternoon. Coach Jim Caldwell made the announcement yesterday, putting to rest rumors that Stafford might be rested in a game that has no playoff implications. Meanwhile, the Lions have lost their third-string quarterback. Brad Kaaya was signed off the practice squad by the Indianapolis Colts.
